The crimson suns glow shone on the otherwise bright green hillside. This lone hill created the only clearing in the dark, dense forest. It was a beautiful shrine; the only location for miles around that you could see the sun, the moon, or the clouds. On the crest of the hill sat a lovely little girl, tarnished by dirt and sweat.
She sat with her tiny head between her knees, her slender arms around her legs, and her silky hair draping from her back around to the sides of her arms. The suns warmth slowly flickered away, as it disappeared below the treetops. Lilly lifted her head, and focused her puffy, tearful eyes on the sunset. The dark reds and brilliant oranges of the twilight dazzled her, and compelled her to wipe her teary eyes dry. She started to play with her soft black hair as the tip of the sun finally disappeared below her sight. Gradually, she slipped into a quiet slumber.
A warm wind awakened her. She silently turned her head to the heavens, and solemnly gazed at the stars. Her emerald colored eyes sparkled in the radiant moonlight. As she thought of home, her eyes began to flood with tears. Her smooth voice snuck out as she drew in the deepest breath that she could.
Then, she heard a beautiful voice coming from behind her. Her heart missed a beat. Quickly, she twisted herself so that she was lying on her stomach. Better not be who I think it is, she muttered out loud.
What was that she saw? A soft blue aura was creeping closer to her. She sat up, with one leg tucked beneath her small body, to get a better look. It was a woman. But it was no ordinary woman. This was the prettiest woman shed ever send. She was an angelic woman, who moved with grace and had a voice that brought her spirit out of the void of misery.
Lilly watched her run closer and closer. Realizing that the woman was running directly at her, Lilly shuffled to stand on her bare feet, and turned to run. But, she froze.
Beautiful butterflies that were glowing in pretty green and purple colors fluttered before her. She looked at her hands, which were bathed in pale moonlight. But, in the moment thereafter, they were enriched with a pretty shade of blue light.
Lilly slowly turned around to face the woman behind her. She was not afraid of this woman; this beautiful person was not who shed feared. As the woman drew nearer, she began to work up the courage to ask her for her name. The woman was only a few feet away now. But why was she still running? To her hearts breaking, the woman ran right past her. Lilly wanted herself to be seen!
Wait! she feebly exclaimed as she grabbed the hand of the woman.
The blue glow vanished, the colors around her were painted gorgeously brilliant colors, and the womans body looked as though it were daylight. It was a fairy.
The fairys head darted to Lillys face. Happiness and relief presented itself on her face. It was the kindest face that Lilly had ever seen.
What is your name? little Lilly softly asked.
The fairy looked deeply and longingly into Lillys eyes. As she began to smile, she squeezed Lillys little hand.
I am Lilly, Lilly optimistically proclaimed. That is my name.
I am Adela, the fairy said.
Lilly grinned. Her voice was gentle and kind. Adela. It is a pretty name. I think my name is pretty. Do you think my name is pretty?
Its the prettiest name Ive ever heard! Adela cried. You delight me, Lilly, she added.
You are a fairy! Lilly burst out.
Yes, I am, replied Adela, and you are a lovely young girl.
Lilly gazed up at the Adela, who had her by the hand. She blushed, and shook from side to side a little. She grinned as she sputtered, You are a pretty fairy.
Suddenly, Adela began running around. Jumping. Playing. She begged Lilly to join, and Lilly quickly complied.
As they were playing, Lilly asked, What were you running at before?
